The Ledges is owned and operated by the Arone family-known throughout the region as experts in the field of teaching and counseling developmentally disabled individuals.

In 1960, Dr. Vincent Arone, Sr. founded The Ledges as a summer-camp program for people with learning disabilities. By the summer's end, it became clear that half the original group wanted to stay, and The Ledges began to operate as a year-round facility. The warm, supportive environment that so appealed to those first residents is very much alive today.

Our highly skilled staff members are long-term-averaging seven years or more of experience at The Ledges-which ensures continuity of care and in-depth knowledge of each resident. We carefully tailor our staff-to-resident ratio to individual needs and activities. In educational or job-coaching situations, the ratio can be as high as one or two staff members per individual.
