Teams of staff members, teachers, and diagnostic professionals meet with residents and their families to create individualized learning programs. Team discussions-along with continual assessments of skill levels, intellectual needs, and personal goals-form the core of each resident's education. Classes and learning opportunities are offered on-campus and in the community, ensuring that individuals can select learning opportunities that match their interests and lifestyles. Special-education teachers on staff are attentive to each resident's personal growth potential and learning needs. Our curriculum includes speech therapy; physical therapy; and instruction in practical skills such as household maintenance, money management, and personal hygiene. We also offer recreational programs, music, arts and crafts, and more. In addition, residents can attend classes at the local YMCA, Hopedale's Community House, the Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital, and Newbury College's Hopedale campus. All educational activities are tailored to suit individual learning styles and skill levels. |
